Balthali village Trek

Balathali village trek

The Baithali village is a naturally and culturally rich settlement area only 40 km Southeast of Kathmandu. The village lies near the town of Panauti and Khopasi in the Kavrepalanchowk district. The village brings you massive terrace fields with small dotted traditional houses. Along with such open space, you can also see the Himalayas clear as day on the northern horizon. Mountains like the Manaslu range, Langtang, Ganesh Himal range, Dorje Lakpa, etc are visible.

You can see beautiful views of sunrise and sunset in the east. The sun rays hitting the mountain in the north will also give immensely mesmerizing views. You can find rice terraces in the western face and a lush green forest of the Mahabharat range in the south. The region is full of myriads of floras, including Rhododendron, Magnolia and Sal trees.

The village is a common destination among local hikers, bikers, and artists. However, it is a great gateway destination for anyone looking for a relaxing time. If you are a nature enthusiast, you can enjoy the mountains and the forest views. There are various species of wildlife found in the village. The untouched wildlife, forest, and fields amalgamate well with the tradition and culture of the settlement area. People of the Tamang, the Newa community, and other ethnic tribes live in the area. They live through conventional tools of living and stray away from modernity. Visiting the village would be a perfect detox from your hectic urban day-to-day life.

You should hike through an off-beaten trail to reach this beautiful untouched village. People also make mountain biking trips to the village from the city as it is very near. To reach the place through conventional means, you must reach Dhulikhel by vehicle. Then make a short trek from Dhulikel after a few hours of driving from Kathmandu to reach the village.

This hike is a very simple beginner-friendly journey. Despite the Balthali Village hike being so easy, you might still need to navigate it.
